On October 12, 1987, Whitney’s “So Emotional” was released as the third single from her second album, Whitney. With another stellar production by Narada Michael Walden, the song rose to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her sixth consecutive #1 single, as well as a dance chart hit. Whitney performed the song many times in her live shows, including this performance from her HBO special, The Concert For A New South Africa, in 1994.
