April 2, 1988 – “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” hit #1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. The song was the fourth single from Whitney’s second album. In a 2000 interview, Whitney said she initially hated the song, but Clive Davis convinced her to record it believing it could go to #1 if she did. Indeed, the song hit #1 and became her seventh consecutive #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100, a record that still stands to this day!
